It is important to look at what the secret is about.
If it is about a disloyal action between family members, don't we just allow the action to be passed on from generation to generation if it is not brought into the open.
Secrets can condone people's action.
The person carrying the secret carries a burden to protect another.
Why do we need to protect another if their behaviour has been inappropriate? The secret just allows certain behaviour to carry on through the generations.
Isn't this what 'sins of the forefathers' is about?
